Fll Second Empire Daleks vs First Empire Daleks!

Back in the depths of time.  Pre trump, pre brexit.  An earlier, happier time.  I had the basement of our 3rd shop as a wargame room and a permanent 6x4 table.  Ho Hum.  Tony and I were selected from a caste of thousands to playtest a new set of rules called Harder Than Steel.  True, these have languished - but Rogue Stars was enbidded from the ashes like a phoenix.

Here we are!  http://unitrecon.blogspot.com/2013/08/aarfirst-harder-than-steel-game-using.html

Plus, here's some goodies who have yet to enter the field:

Empire heavy Weapon sleds, AA mount (I've the generator truck somewhere) and engineers.
A mix of GZG bits & Khurasan Exterminators.  Some of the heads are from Germy's 2mm range.

Plastic eyelets make perfect Transolars!

These need some work-.

Anon!

For ease I’ve left the “pure” Flying Lead stats in from our original game, that be they in italics. I’ve been lazy and simply adapted the whole article.

Imperial Loyal Assault Army Rebel Suppression and Extermination (ILL AARSE) unit.
Such units are usually up to strength but suffer from lack of veterans and specialists. Attached heavy weapons tend to be hatchlings or Uber Daleks*.

Rebel Second Army Combat Team (SACT).
These units are rarely up to strength, some going into combat with 50% hatchlings. This is offset by equipping with up-armoured travel machines. Heavy Weapons have a wider range of weapon choice and are usually recruited from experienced troopers who show no wish to go for rank. Officers and senior nco's are usually experienced or veteran, some having real charisma and the ability to inspire troops. http://www.mechmaster.co.uk/cg-lair/daleks/secemp466.htm

The Game  Tony took the Imperials and the initiative.

"So General Pat-Ton, are you confident of success?"

Impererials Advance!

We decided to use this as an objective for some reason-.

Storm plus rebels - note that heavy weapon Dalek attached to unit.

The Boss.

"Storm, you're so - shiny!"

My Rebels Ad-vance!

General Pat-Ton isn't the retiring lead from the back type.

The Imperial Heavy Weapon gets a good firing solution and brews up a section-.  This is a brutal, 1st past the post exterminates game.

That allows his infantry to ad-vance.

OK, we've got it, now what?

Oh yes, hold on to it-.

2 Failures means initiative swap.  Eeeeg-scelent.

My infantry light them up - the infantry do the job, the HW does crap.

More brutality - one more Imperialist lackey drones disappear in a cyan burst of righteous lasers.

A long shot brings Storm down to size.

Oh shit- my mortar HW has to get a lot closer to me effective.

Imperial HW heads for cover.

Swap over and mine engage the HW.  They couldn't kill it, but 4 suspensions!

Meanstwhile-.

HW engages one squad, disrupts them and destroys them - a couple get away.

Second squad engages it, but only manage to push it back.  Which is nice, 'cos it slaughters them all bar their HW but then it gets brewed in turn.

Game 2

Tony got the initiative again!  my first casualty to long range shooting.

Storm moves in-

HW v HW and mine brews up!

Now my Black Dalek's gone!

Tony's rebels are steeling the march.

Storm's down again!  but the infantry get their rewenge.

I'm a little short-.

I get the drop on the rebels and a squad evaporates.

And another one is ground under the skirt of my invincible troops!

Well, most of them- but the survivors take MINE out with withering close range fire.

The remnant go sneaking, a SACT threat in my ILL AARSE.

Another squad is dropped.

Tony's down to one unit and a remnant.  I'm down to 2 units and Pat Ton.

Tony gets the drop, moves in and destroys one-.

The sneaking revisionist rebel unit targets Pat Ton and give him 2 stuns!

Then they move in and exterminate him!

The last unit gets to the objective and hit the mini bar hard.

My last unit takes out the rabble rebel assassins!

But in a last stand off, last unit vs last unit - they lose!

Well I wanted a set of rules that handle Dalek-on-Dalek action and I think this is it-.  need to spread the mix then wop in a few storm troopers-.

Hope you've liked this little series.  There's the middle one to come, but I've made a dogs dinner out of that one-.
