RS Franks gang take on a Southpaw squad

The Prologue.  Time for a wee rant.  Haven't 'ad one for a while, so pin back yer lug 'oles* and pay attention.  There will be a quiz.

I'm getting a little obsessed with the idea of running a participation game.  2-3 battles per side, with new players given the opportunity to run one.  Effectively an endless OAAH Martian game.

An idea for a time-war with several sides and several key historical/mythic locations is developing into a larger thing (already done-skipped ahead) - moving on from Rogue Stars.  Plotting, plotting.

You saw recently the start of a 3-way mythic Japanese OAAH campaign.

Then there's getting distracted by whatever comes out-----.

I need more money and I need it now.  Well, that
gives you the heads-up of what to expect--.

*Your own unless consenting adults.

Scenery.  I spent nearly £4 making these 2 boards so I'm getting some use-.

I offset the boards and added the buildings to the side.  So the division between board & not-board is blurred.  Lots of walls and a bit of rubble.

We used so little of the table for the conflict (a 10"x 5" area) but every section was used for movement.  Being brought up in a village, the crooked paths & rat runs.  Here in Poole you cannot walk straight to anywhere, if you go down to the quay there are still lots of these crooked byways.

Plot- Mission Steal valuables.  I didn't do a complication, expecting 2 average games.  Just shows--.

The Game.  Tony took Frank's gang.  I'd rolled for position of the counters from my bottom left corner.  For once I rolled high.  Press informed.

You've got to presume they've either got prior knowledge, the machine that goes Ping or the latest version of Alexa.

I get some reaction and come on using cover.

Vince is in the house.

Got one!

Anyone who's ever done this for real knows that "my armour has shrunk to a postage stamp and this cover is paper thin" feeling.  Facing 20 archers and everyone else goes back at a rate of knots leaving you as the happy target-.

Prize gained, carrying back like a Welch cheese. (Caerphilly).  Neither gets the opportunity to spot.

Close, so close - follow that trail-.

My flanker takes the first shot of the game.

Headshot - gone.  Not a single morale fail, no rerolls then.

Damn that looks good.  Go back and read the article.  Note that the building is slotted in, looking very natural.

Where did that come from?  Everyone dives for the wall.

Meanstwhile, on my other flank, following the trail - there's frank sprouting orders.  A reaction and Bang!

My other trooper gets 3, so takes a pot-shot at those close to the wall, gets lucks and wounds one!

Flamer moves up.  Reinforce success.

I never expected to use this bit, walls put in for completeness.  Let that be a lesson.  Outflanking-.

Long shot pays off - they're being shot at from 2 directions.

Goodies all delivered to the motor (I should have found it out or better still bought:  https://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/15mm-stargrunt/vehicles/civilian-paramilitary-and-misc-vehicles/v15-147.html

A battle as seen in Police Squad with the flamer, who wins out in the end.

Another long range bang pays off.

Help is on his way.

Another one gone!  The tide is turning!

"I see something-!"

Yep, but it can shoot.

You've forgotten someone-.

Long range for a pistol.

A rattle of auto fire makes him shift-.

Sneaking-.

Better range for a pistol.

Revenge.

The last one does a runner with 2 of the 3 goodies.

Interesting game!  The counters slowed the baddies right down so that all the action was in a 10"x5" area.  Worth putting the effort into topping up the terrain.

You'll note the letter beads - really help bring the character to life, giving them a name.  The Southpaws are from a larger force with each letter denoting a force or specialist.  You'll see these later- when the flamer actually performs.
