Rogue Stars On The Road.

Once a month I get the opportunity to wargame with old friend and good-if-fanatic-egg Matt Hay of this parish.

When you play a game with one person you settle into a routine of play.  So it's worth playing against someone else once in a while.

So Matt suggested Rogue stars as an excuse to get his 15mm figures out.  BTW, I'm to blame for getting him started.  It was sooooo difficult.

I suggested that I'd provide 2 sets of terrain and him one.  Plus 3 sides each and we'd pick at random.

Now the pics are from my less-than ideal camera and I had to dump a load.

I provided:
Bounty Hunter Bears.
Sheyang Merchants and
Dalek cyborgs.

Game 1 Loves Twilight Gleaming.

Matt's Robot Merc's vs
Bear Bounty Hunters.

We played dominoes.  Split the pieces into 2 piles and placed as we saw fit.  Worked well!  You could cut out some cardboard bits and do same.

First interesting point is that we always go for centre of mass  whereas Matt's used tothe arms as the main priority.

We rolled (honest!) Mission 7, explore a wrecked ship.  This mission also defines the terrain.  Complication 5 love is in the air.  Deep joy.  There's only Matt's leader, the rest being robots.  Roll on mine produced Pa.  Make of that what you will.
Bounty Hunters. Bushwackers 8 terrain tokens, auto pass terrain roll. Total 205

"Ripper” Boo Boo (blue hat) Big, Fast, Medic, Tech, Tough 1 20 Vibroblade (3) 4 Total 24

Paddington (red hat) Big, Fast, Tough1, Marksman, 19, Vibroblade (3) 4 Sonic pistol (2) 6 Total 29

Pa (yellow hat) Big, Fast, Tough1, Marksman, 19, Monowire tangler (3) 10 Total 29

Ted (mohawk) Big, Fast, Tough2, Leader1, Marksman 2, 39, Zap rifle, (4) 7 46

Yogi (green hat) Big, Fast, Tough2, Marksman 2, 33, Molecular slugthrower (4) 7 40

Flambear Big, Ambidextrous, Fast, Marksman 1, 21 2 Flamer pistols (3) built in 16 Total 37

We both proceeded through the ship.  Matt met some crew/scavengers and slaughtered them.  I led with Flambear (would you want him behind you?)  Paddington got an assault rifle, which was nice.  Pa gained a pet human.

First contact.  Matt was doing proper advance by fire and movement.  Mine were wanding along poking their snouts into things.

Flambear was first contact and before he got stitched like a kipper he put one down - but not out.

A good mass shoot-out ensued moment by moment.  I could put his down, but not out! Yogi goes down.

Then it happened.  Matt's leader puts down mine (medic!) and that puts the lovebirds in close contact.  Now Matt's was no Eddy and could not hurt his Teddy.  Mine, armed with a tangler cannot shoot, even though it causes no damage!  The leader takes his (?) frustration out on my leader.  Ouch.

In desperation, Pa ducks behind his love (who can do nowt-)  and attempts to entangle a robot.  That fails.  Oh Good-. Robot has no constraints-.

Ripper tries one of his trade mark rushes as the leader, but is blown away on reaction.  Aaarse!

Matt uses small dice rather than our counters on a sheet.  Both have their good & bad points.

Game 2 "You're the dirty lowdown Sheyang who sold my Pa!

This time it was his Colonial Star Cops vs my sheyang.

Mission 3 Bodyguard work.  Location 8 Defenders home world.  Complication 7 It's personal.  Matt's Indian Joe and my Tuty.

I got defend.  We used the village "that's mine, that's also mine".  We have a house rule with Sheyang based on Farscape - a critical failure with the breath weapon and the poor B explodes like a plasma grenade.

I put the target in the hut, not on the roof-.

Sheyang Merchants Ignore 1st Pin. Crawl 1” Walk 2” Run 4” Sprint 6” +1 as target, +1 combat.
Heavy firepower 5 chits perform hail of fire. Total 200

Suty, Big, Heavy worlder, Leader 2, Marksman, Reactive, Reptiloid, Tough2 M.biologist 49 Total 63
Light combat dress Legs/arms 2 Torso/head 3 7
Flamer pistol 3 (breath weapon) Scorching, Energy, Short range 4
SMG 4 Automatic 3

Tuty, Big, Heavy worlder, Marksman, Reptiloid, Tough2 30 Total 44
Light combat dress Legs/arms 2 Torso/head 3 7
Flamer pistol 3 (breath weapon) Scorching, Energy, Short range 4
SMG 4 Automatic 3

Uty Big, Heavy worlder, Marksman, Reptiloid, Tough2 30 Total 44
Light combat dress Legs/arms 2 Torso/head 3 7
Flamer pistol 3 (breath weapon) Scorching, Energy, Short range 4
SMG 4 Automatic 3

Vuty Big, Heavy worlder, Marksman, Reptiloid, Tough2 30 Total 49
Light combat dress Legs/arms 2 Torso/head 3 7
Flamer pistol 3 (breath weapon) Scorching, Energy, Short range 4
Heavy blaster rifle 6 heavy, 2 handed, Energy, 8

I put Tuty out in front with the aim of taking the punishment forward.  This sort of worked, as he was the main target.  But he absorbed a lot.  Unfortunately the rest proved poor shots! It took a knife attack to put him down.  All the rest got wounded, Uty being left with his flamer-breath weapon.  Two embarrassingly small puffs followed by a critical that blew the roof off the building, incinerating the hostage!  That went well.

Game 3 Redistribution of wealth.  Finally Shiny Merchants vs Daleks.

Time was getting short, but the last game was rather too quick,  So we tried for 3.

Mission Smuggling.   4 Outdoors, low gravity.   If we rolled on the complications table, it had no effect.  Each of my 3 Drones is carrying, probably attached to the back panel.

Daleks. Cyborgs. Tactical discipline Cool under fire 8 -1pin.
Armour3 Crawl 1” Walk 2” Run 4” Sprint 6”
Not affected by bolster, encourage, guidance, mindbolt, mindscream, nightmares, mind control.
+1 spotting. Halve distance if aimed shot.
Black Dalek, 3 Drones and Ogron. 200

Black Dalek Artificial, Leadership1, Marksman1 Tough1 30 Total 49
Bionic eyes 4 Combat computer 4 8
Laser pistol (4) mounted variable, 7

Drones Artificial, Marksman1 Tough1 24 Total 35
Bionic eyes 4
Laser pistol (4) mounted variable, 7

Ogron Big, Marksman (2) Reactive, Tough, 26 40
Kevlar2, 6
Heavy blaster (6) 8 14

I got defend-again.  Now this table was not ideal.  This scenario needs cover for both sides and is suited to a square area.  Never mind, play on.

My Ogron was on point.  Came out of the transmat, spotted some hu-man and blew her away.  Excellent.  That attracted a lot of return fire and he died.  First drone targeted that flank and drove the defenders into cover, but never managed a good aimed shot.

The second Drone fared a little better, engaging the other flank at long range and repeatedly putting them down.  Their doc-tor was running all over the place, bandages flapping.

My black Dalek was the subject of cross-fire and suffered.

I did get an end-run with my last Drone that nearly killed the captain, but not quite.  I went down shooting as a Dalek should!

I'm really pleasd that my Feudal Japanese village managed to make the grade!

The scourers need a bit more work.  I think I should have distressed them more before sticking.
We went for the ruined church look.  Time Team's here next weekend.

Nice to see someone else's (neater) clutter than mine in the background.
