On the Daleks FB page there's several CGI versions of Daleks. I like this "Doctor Octopus" concept and wanted to recreate it as close as possible.
First select your tools. Fine, precision tools are required. I wanted to turn the edge of the skirt down but it's a very solid casting and, to be honest, more trouble that it was worth.
I'm a wargamer - not a modeller! I had thought to "turn down" the skirt, but I'd have had to cut each section and reattach. I did think of adding the smallest beads to the panels - but I'm just not that neat!
I considered adding a radar type disk to the rear and I might retrofit these. I found 2 of the bases in my shame pile. I might consider a mad scientist and an Emperor!
I also need to find out my robomen selection!

Gor bless Alternative Armies! Particularly their sales. I just got these in time.

First time using this green putty. Quite pleased with the result.
I was going to use 2p's and letter beads. Intsead I made these from bits box inserts and small bases from blotz. https://blotz.co.uk/product/12mm-x-12mm-bases-x-64/ Cork from Geek Gaming (who else?) Rubble position instead of a number or letter.
First test
Second test, base (black gesso) coated.
Base is finished, a bit of white drybrush when mounted. I added them with gorilla glue, which gives a very "mucky" look to the underskirt.
I'm calling these finished! Well - I lost and had to replace the big gun on the heavy weapons and that needs touching up. Rather than a neat look, I went with the "drone with a spray can touching up the paint as required".
I have a vision of the creature straddling a bench seat working levers. Motive power the traditional rolling ball. If steam power seems "quaint" please note that all of our use of nuclear power is to drive steam engines.
Meanstwhile - Trotters Independint Transport. And a few potential opponents!
