Regular readers will have noted another time-delay. Well the one-in-the-pipe is a biggie. This one IS a follow on to an Atremis vs Athena game, but I um, left my phone at home and we've tried sending pics, but any way they get so jumbled as to be an ultra pain-.
A battle effects the general area. Locals are volunteered, driven off or suffer raids. This is pretty much the main focus of these after-action add-ons. Here I've come up with a selection of such groups for a random selection using a small number of figures. And the action takes place in a saw mill - so also fits into the Trouble 't Mill category!
Today we are mostly eating shortbead. Other types of bread are available, but usually don't dunk in coffee so well.
This bread don't toast.
Made in Scotland from the ground bones of Haggis topped with refined sugar.
Which is nice.
Amazons are a mix of Battle Valor and Irregular.

I invested in some backdrops. These are as cheap as chips from Amazon and look a bit better than the pile of stuff at the end of the table--.This I think is meant to be a 28mm field? If so it's huge and a low fence. STILL, makes an excellent village setting don't you think?
An exclusive from Warpainter on sale at Entoyment here in the county of Poole, one ofs so not on their website. I do like their scenery. https://entoyment.co.uk/product/warpainter-vegetable-plots/
You last saw this mill scenics from The Scene on Venus - really a most versatile bit of kit!
Game 1 Chariot hero vs Locals.
Chariots in this game have been a discussion, so I thought I'd give it a go!
I decided to do a quick dice for location - just to make it all a bit more realistic.
The chariot runner runs on - and opens the gate!
The chariot rumbles up. The young lord gets a reaction and runs up. Then he fails his activation. You'll note that the stats are a lot lower than the norms given in the book. These are, well half, normal people caught on the hop rather than grizzled professionals on the bounce.
The runners gives up a reaction, the lad gets it and slays her! So much for possible romance!
The chariot rumbles through the gate and strikes him down as it goes by! Death f a leader means a morale test for everyone!
The slingers sling their 'ooks, and form a boy band, taking to the road.
Sneak out the back-- Old retainer throws a javelin at long distance, forcing the charioteer to dismount.
The old retainer gets caught, shoved back then chopped down,
The chariot harasses the remaining slinger who tries a shot but fails.
The last remaining defender does a runner-.Game 2 Amazon group 3 vs We got the builders in. I diced for starter locations again, but the cyclops all in one area.
Curious how figures end up in the same location.
- gaffer does a runner!
Spear does the traditional ('tis now) gate opening ceremony.
Rider thunders on and does a passing strike. The dice gives the final position.
He gets up. That's all. But he's up.
Now he's caught in an Amazon press as the archer fires sticks at him.
With a thunder and a flash of firm young thighs the javelins go streaming by.
"Get away from the Captains Log!"
Pony girl in the first to encounter the hard cyclops and she goes down!
The gaffer uses reactions to sneak down the piles stalked by the archer.
And the boss rolls - bad - & hops up to the bank.
She's up, then she's taken down.
Lots of dashing and bashing! No throwing or lobbing. I took the building away and replaced with measuring sticks. The gaffer gets gone - morale.
The cyclops foreman does a "reform" call.
A couple try and get the Amazon leader, but she's too good for 'em!
The lad is down and a gory death! Morale-
The winners! They have the village!
Game 3 the remnants.
Interesting how this is working out one quick, one long. But 4 unhurried games in 4 hours.
"Right you 'orrible lot. His nibs is going to talk abaat Keats. None of you ignerint lot know wot a Keat is!"
I decided to put in one location. The leader gets a reaction, so is aware of the approaching band. (A dog, a youngster or a firewood collector gives the alarm)
He gets the initiative (If more had come on-) Group activation, the lads get 3 activations and leap to the fray!
The rider does a passing strike laying one low.
The party splits, several going after the party girl, looking for revenge. the lead javelin goes for the Amazon leader.
He knocks her down, but in return she sweeps his legs out. The fight continues on the deck! The fight continues with the lad doubling her! Dead!
The Amazon band decide to regroup and democratically elect a new leader. Game over!
Game 4 This is a meeting engagement, 2 bands clash in the vicinity. These was a day spent betwix the planning - different concept but they came out identical!
Run up, open gate - go through, you got it.
Sneaking up to the fence.
The rider nips around the other side this time, change of scenery!
I've noted before how much an obstacle can slow a force down, allowing the rider to thunder on their flank!A passing strike knocks down the first slinger as she gallops through. As before, the dice marks the movement end.
The leader does bad, the reaction allows the rider to strike another one!
Getting too close to the slinger -
Here come the girls and they're in a mess. The slinger has dispatched the Amazon javelin and her buddy goes for revenge via pointy stick.
Down comes the axe and a grisly death. They run--
The rider and spearman get dispatched.
As the Amazons close in, the leader does a group rally.
Javelin vs sling, the latter gets the best of it.
The leader tries for the Amazon leader, but is brought low by a long throw. The rest run!
