Flying Lead Halloween Horror!

Eee By Gum! Eee By Gum! The villagers of Stacked on Trestle have been taken under the fluence of a fiendish Egyptian curse after a cart carrying a mysterious monstrous mummy crashes int' village square. They advance with menace on the Manor Farm where Sir Hugh Assum-Ption and his house party have the missing amulet of Totenhum Em Hotspir tastefully displayed on the coffee table.

A year ago (How can it be a year!)  I did some Dr Who esque games using Rogue Stars.  I’m revising one of my Trouble at ‘t Mill ideas to show Matt another side of Flying Lead. I didn't get where I am today by not mixing a metaphor. Any resemblance to anything else whatever is, of course, coincidental. Honest me ducks.

One great advantage Flying Lead has over Rogue Stars is that it has online builders.

You can develop a character, new weapon or vehicle in a short while.

Below you'll see that I've used some standard weapons to "fill in" for the more exotic. Does Fakir Khan have grenades or some mystic power that does a similar effect?

I used the builder to create the lions roar and the mummies stare.  http://www.ganeshagames.net/extra_info_pages.php?pages_id=17

These are the brand new stuff from Alternative Armies, our Gavin supporting another new designer.  Sailors, and a few others Irregular.  Fakir Croms Anvil.  Brits and a lot of civvies Old Glory and a few others from Rebel and Splintered Light.  Giant munmmy, the biggest figure, is a Pendraken 10mm-.

Village to the left, Manor farm, the objective, to the right.  Before I'd used a small part of my fences collection.  This time I emptied the tin.  The ford - I made this as a movement tray for my Poole In Flames game (the relief force) but misplaced it.  Cut CD, bit of hard as nails then 2 different flocks.  Simple, easy and quick.  Must make more fields!

T' Mill.  I added the wheel later, when I found it!

Game 1.  Mat Hay, spinster of this parish, took the forces of good.

The Americans zoom ahead and the leader takes a commanding position.  Smack in the middle of the board it proves irresistible.

I made a mistake (No!  You cry, but it is possible) I made medium moves instead of short.  My bad, In my defence it was cold & wet and I was not at my best--.

The hero & companions leap down the flank.

The Colonel climbs on top of the vehicle and his men form the first firing line all proper like.

With the merry "chuff" of breaks the van screeches to a halt then the stalwarts advance!

The lioness guards advance and the first shot runs out--

Aaaargh!  Grrrr!  Roar!   Quack!  The legions of darkness descend!

More like - with all the troops in a firing line volleys crash out at bodies fall!

Now individual shots target those at longer range.

Brown Hat, full of colonial bravado (would you step in front of a firing line?) steps out.

Black coat drives into the poor enslaved villages, running some over, scattering more.

A shot from the window of the motor!!  The officer goes down and morale check ensues.

The van backs up, to get the Professors party in play.

Red marks the end of the move, but two proves tenacious.  Red dice is the end of the vehicled move.

Remembering he has a gun, the hero goes bang!  White hat is saved by the railings absorbing 90% of the shot (as they do)

The young shootist comes on flinging lead with reckless abandon and lays the hero low!  Note brown hat watching from afar.

Oh dear-- don't take your eyes off the zombies.

The charabanc shanghaied!  Well, attacked.

So close!

Ms Jo is attacked!  She lays her foe low!

The rolling volley shatters the mummies zombie horde!

Sometimes reverse is the best way forward.

Long range, but volley shots---

Shaken, the huge thing rocks under the impacts.

And again - game over!

Game 2.  My turn with the lor n order party.  As the Prof didn't get to debus last time, I decided to have a convoy with him in the lead.  That's the Professor driving a souped up buggy with an assistant called Jo and a bunch of stalwart infantry in tow.  In Yorkshire.

My approach to these vehicles - cabs packed with black pompoms and a thin scrap plastic "shadow" base.

The Americans, of course, take a different path.

The Prof's party proceeds.

The Americans zoom by.  Honk Honk!

The van chugs at a ponderous rate.

Here they come!

The Americans debus, open fire and are attacked!

The Prof's party is pridefully pranged!  Ms Jo and the Detective go down, the other 2 shaken.

The hero goes for the objective.

The Colonels party next.  He goes down!

And still they come!

Zomb!

The ladies storm forward!

With 3 lionessesss attacking from the roof the van is destroyed with the troops inside it?  I'm choosing this for the follow - on Rogue Stars game on Sunday.

Game 3  Swapsies betwix me n Tony.

The lions zoom!  As usual leaving their ossifer behind watching their swaying tails.  Well, I would.

Slavering hordes herded.

Ten 4 for a convoy.  The van backs up.  Toot toot, beep beep!  On reflection that junction causing a bottleneck worked well at moderating the pace of the game.  Just as I planned.

The Colonel pulls in ready to debus.  The Americans try and remember the correct side of the road so as not to run over people.

And still they come.  "Wait for me girls!"

Americans get out and go.

As do the Prof's party.  Fakir lobs a stunner.

The Colonel, having had emergency tiffin on a silver platter, debuses.

Coming on like a wall of fur - the guards attack Ms Jo - and she repulses them!

Slowly, slowly catchee objective.

Another whizzbang - even kills one!  Probably landing on helmet---.

Ms Jo and others shoot.

Sighting through the steps,  white hat shoots the hero .  Morale sends lionesses flying ever

Still-

The lions rally and the young officer regains control.  Ms Jo is on a roll!

"Big chaps with sticks, 3 rounds rapid!"

Time for a stroll, quick fag.

Brown hat steps out.  Fakir gets shot!

Sneaky shootist gets a kill from the shrubbery.

The detective is out of the motor!  Having failed to hit anything from inside--

Nooo!  Ms Jo gets shot!

The line stands firm going bang.

"Watch out, she's behind you!"

Time to be - discrete.

If the lions can break the line-

"Form up and fire at Will."

British bayonet-

Distracted, shoved back then pursued but they pull through.

Big chap gets too close and goes down to a volley!

Taken from Entoyment facebook daily post.  There be coffee.  I'm thinking in investing in one of those railway backdrop scenes.

That was a FULL days gaming!  Hope you enjoy!  Follow-up coming next.
