Of Gods and Mortals Pan vs Ares, going BIG

We used to see Baby Bats, now there's a Baby Bathomet!  Expect to see more of-.

Our return to Entoyment!  Chance for larger games!  This shop has mats for use and as first in, I nabbed this one.  As you can see, it matches my basing material.  I'll be tempted for Beach Head.

A closer observation.  Gratuitous Irregular Amazon bum shots?  No!  Look at the bases, OK?

3 games with same armies. First 2 me against Matt Hay (scion of this parish, taking time away from Star Wars Legion)

I couldn't find the charger, and my phone was at 11% by the time I got home. So a lorra, lorra less pictures thus much sketchier run through than you're used to. My bad.

I also made another error. I decided to use scenarios rather than a simple "meet & greet". Having said that, Temple Under Siege would have worked.

For the first two games Matt and I used Sacred Grove, which actually broke things up nicely, better than the Spring of Youth Tony and I vouchsafed in game the third.

If you have forces that move faster than an M, that would help.

Game 1 I had Pan and defended.

Pan's people:  1st centaurs, centaur archers and both combat satyrs drunk.



Matt likes to risk flank and rear attacks.



Difficult to get an all-table shot.


I'd mentioned (idiot-)  That Tony likes Ares in boar form and Matt tried same, tearing through my chariots!




The rear ambush was in easy reach of Pan, so a "tremble before my might" that awes them.  White dice indicates such.  Matt used small white dice indicate activated, I used green.
 


The boar decided he didn't like these, so kept charging them.


Sometimes an area becomes a killing ground for no reason.



The boar was trying to un-awe the ambush, but as it worked out Pan gets chomped and a LOT of troops left - that effectively ended the game.  Time for lunch.



Game 2

Pan - Drunk, centaur archers and coupers, small satyres and 1 satyre archer.

Now the thing is - Tremble before my might is ALL units.  So if your gods there, and he rolls a 1. 


Yep, Ares is awed.


We ran out of white dice.



Which allows Pan to trot over and pull the pork!  What indignity!



Which allows for some general carnage and diverse alarums.




Crunch, battle of the Legends.


Pig on pig action, big guy goes down again!




Game 3  Tony and I with me with Pan again.
Pans People:  Drunk, 1 centaur, centaur archers, 1 small satyr and all satyr archers.


Action started on my left.  One big difference in play styles is the exchange of missiles.



In the centre Tony has a whole mess of heroes supported by cavalry and archers ready to thump in.



I want to get this chariot there - crap.



Time for Pan to do his "thing".


Still peppering, Ares heads for the Awed area to get people up.


Chiron kills one amazon but doesn't follow up.  Here comes Ares!



Charge!  But a flick of the tusks sends in caroming in flames!



Again!  Deya pooo! 


Clash of Titans, but it's on the flank so not many hit.



Now Ares bashes Pan! Everyone goes or goes back.  This is when having drunk units hurts.


Everyone runs together.




Chariot moving!  Ares - tied result, but for once it ain't me rolling a 1!  Ares dead!


Now everyone is spread out.


Pans time to charge in!  But he's back.


WTF -  1 for Ares, 1 for Pan.  Turnover.  Arse.


Another Clash of Titans!  But the Silenos recovers and charges in, killing Pan!



We called it - Ares has plenty to bring him back.
