Of Gods And Mortals Osirus vs Apollo

The Queen died today. 2 grown men who should know better were playing with toys.

For many she is the last link to that heroic generation that secured our freedom to do so.

This is probably about as out-field as it can get.  Let me take you back to the violent times of the late Bronze Age.

Troy has fallen.  With her destruction the dam has burst and the Sea Peoples tear into the civilised world.

I had an idea a few years ago, but needed Splintered Lights Egyptians to make it happen.  Let us examine a mythic world where the Greek gods cast envious eyes on the settled Egyptian kingdoms.

I'm thinking that there are 2 thrusts - along the coast skirting the desert.  A second comes via Libya and the sea.  This one is definitely Poseidon's bag.  I have most of the stuff done but I gave up during the down time to move on to a new project.this will come with the “proper job” in the post Beach head new year.

So it’s exploring the landward thrust - leading to what in history has come down to us as Kadesh.  A huge battle in the middle of no-where.  Except just about everyone had had a battle in that area.  Sobering thought that EVERY reader here is the progeny of those who survived—.

Now if you look up Kadesh you'll find there are some interesting local minor gods that could make some interesting legends.

For this first exploration I give you Osirus who is represented in the form of a man with the white crown of Upper Egypt.  For the invader I think Apollo.  As I’m in a bit of a rush I’m going to adjust recent used army lists.  My apologies, I will do better later.

Peace be upon you, O Osiris, Lord of eternity, king of the gods all, who has many names.

Game 1 Stunning terrain! Part of my Terrains4Games collection.

Note that the tea cakes are not only the combustables of choice but a valuable objective,

Good start! Never lost a god so quick!

Hum--

I guess I'm lucky I only lose -

These go back--

My luck holds.

Back and rewenge!

In with the weird, which bounces.

Oh come on!

Twang! Another legend gone.

Then a clash! And - redeaded no.2.

My losses mount!

Osirus is back!

Another legend bites the dust!

A bit one sided!

Mummies are good for holding the line.

I'm getting the idea that things are not going my way. Redeaded no 3!

Back! And close! Hits and bounces, that's bad---

Twang and no. 4! I think this is a record--.

That was that. What a game! One for the record book.

Game 2

In with the Spinx to duel with my archers.

Croc vs hero.

Legends mutual destruction.

Snakes vs javelins.  Cheap vs expensive.

Apollo cannot resist shooting the Spinx in the ass, but it bounces off.

A crump, but the result is a push-back.

Good start.

Meastwhile- a tie, each loses 1 which is not good for the snakes.

Now greatly outnumbered, not just doubled the fight is not going well for the snakes.

And at the top another legend dies!

God vs legend.

There's new Trojans coming from Museum Miniatures.  Soon I'll have to decide to replace or mix.

Pushed back - next!

Ouch!  Rolls 1  C of 1 & +1.

Can I draw more off?

Now it's hotting up!  Snakes bounce against spear!

God v legend v2, push and shove!

Smack into its stony ass - everything bounces off.

Snakes slithers off.  Others move in, Legend dies!

Spears clash and get bashed!  They take a second casualty from poison.

Another Sphinx dies.  Chariot clashes in to boost the numbers, but the spear still gets pushed back and the legends face off.

This fight is still going on!

The Spinx is pushed back, mummies to the rescue!  If you cannot rely on your mummies, who can you?

Apollo moves up and shoots the Spinx.  Not on its stony bum this time.

The chariot is pushed back, so the javelin can swamp the mummies - or not.

Osirus - in contact you cannot be shot at - but you can be outnumbered.

Nearly!

They manage to get there on reaction.

Too slow- caught and deaded!

Alas! I have no 4 of mortals so it's game over. One of the things we love about OGAM is that you can refight the same battles and never get a similar result.
