I also have a load of Peter Pig "normals"  to flesh out the forces plus a few more bits-  Another year on lockdown would be good!  https://www.peterpig.co.uk/3%20%20Ancients.html

Sneaky peek at what's to come! If you haven't looked at Pendraken's ranges - you're missing out. I got a load during the down time (when they came out) as I'd planned to get these older figures before they're discontinued.

It's a wosname balance, doing the blog, painting or planning. Now the hot, humid weather has gone I actually got some painting done to the detriment of the blog and planning.

Plus! I've some dwarves from Alternative armies, so with the both types of Valkyries I did earlier I'm on the way to making more forces.

Considering most mummies are children, plus animals like baboons, etc.

You have to have a jackal unit for Anubis.  I have some but they look like thin dogs.  I may mix.  3 or 4 figures on a 2p gives a nice look.  Hope you agree!

The Game.  Super simple scenery again.

In with the scorpions!

One down!

Those hippos look hungry--

Swarm of jackals race at the scorpion.

That's -good.  2 for Anubis.

Chariot burns under the crushing blows, Osirus moves up.

Danger to rear!  Go scorpion!

Leaving his (its) mate to get swarmed!

But they are all shrugged off!

It's the swarm of jackals that does for the poor wee beastie!

The other is dragged off the god by the terrible jaws of the beast!

Right, let's bash those hippos! - crap!

Where did he go?

Now it's crunch time.

Mummy on mummy action for those of you who like that sort of thing -  OK, I admit it, we both do.

That's opened up that flank-.

Clash of Titans!  - Those pillars should have crumbled, my bad.  White dice = Awed.  Legends knocked down!

Pushback--

First one up gets the prize.

And - just on the button!

Some retreat but no losses.

With a mighty "pop" he's back and taking his wrath out on the poor skellingbone archers.  Nowadays, of course, they all have mobiles to record the incident.

Sic 'em!

3 gone, I expected more-.

Still awed, taking damage.

That worked!  Not.  And morale - what morale we's all undeaded!

So Anubis throws everything in, to stop the invocation.

Hah!  Pushed back which allows -

With one bound he was free!  Note - the priest has been quietly re-raising the small unit to 4 and "topping up" others.

Hard bastards but keeping them occupied in the wrong place!

I'm back!  NOW let's have those hippos before they crush my mummies!

All gone!  Shoved off the table.

Here they come!

He's down!

Hippos are gone, not paid enough for this lark!

Still they come and he's popped back.

Yes that unit's mine, it's got no 4-on-a-penny bases.  Throws off one hippo, but the second one makes it recoil.

A murderous charge to rid me of my priest.

Now the final battle!  I roll a 1, Anubis a 6.  None to resurrect, game over!

Game 2 In the shadow of Imduckhotep.

Is brought to you by these new wagon wheels - only 50% sugar--.

A change of selection is always good.

A bit more of a regular deployment.

Fist and claw pump.

"Peek-A-Boo!

Just charge everything in!

Whack the beastie!

In with the bone-crunching hippos! Osirus rolls a 1 & is a 4, +1 for outnumber =6.  Hippos get a 6, are a 3 - and +2 for hammering blow.  One dead god!  He raises his arm and pontificates "I'll be back!"

Scratch one scorpion!  Result!

Anubis fetches bones.

Big mummy bounces from small ones.

Quick, clobber that scorpion - bugger---.

Heeer's Ossy!

Steps back on reaction, does the hand gesture.

What's with the rolling 1's?

Imduckhotep! Imduckhotep! Imduckhotep!

Why do they keep bouncing?

Tied melee causes loss of hero and hippo.  In goes scorpion.

Right, now we - bugger.

De ja voom all over again!  A6 vs a 3 - bye!

Once again a swarm of jackals takes down the scorpion where everything else has bounced off. Sometimes this hobby makes a weird sense of logic.

Attack!

And back again.  Not enough to get to Anubis but the mummy-

Tied melee - one skellingbone turns to dust - a 1!  Dead god!

Minor movements only!

Now the fight to get him back - first 2 rolls a 1!

Phew!  3rd is the charm.

No one left to add, but popping up by the chariot and crash!

Osirus tries the giant but only manages to push it back.

That's good-

Again with the 1.

Heading for the showdown.

My mummies get attacked - the larger unit & no multiple bases.

"Quick, everyone grab a bit and pull!"

Eh?  Wot?  Turned up, trotted up got smacked.  Sorted.  He keeps leaving bits everywhere.

The last hippo goes in. Drives one unit back.  Hence the old Egyptian saying "A hippo in time saves the mummy."  T'was on yer rosetta stone that was.  Honest.

The jackal god stalks.

Smack the mummy!  Shocking!

The last hippo goes down swinging.

Gods and followers clash.

Dead dawg!

Jackals run, retreat and are set upon.

They don't quite get there, leaving the mummies to invoke - badly.

These reduced-

Handy having the "doubles to identify whom mummies are whom.

Can you overkill the undead?

Back and in.

Off he goes-

He's coming - and gone.

Pop!

Squaring off again.

In the shadow--.

Throwing troops away to stop them invoking.

That's it.  No 4 left.
