Of Gods And Mortals I make a Sobek army and it's Snappy!

Sobek, beast, sons, Nile croc, lesser sons.

One of the great things about OGAM is that you can design the lot, picking stuff from any supplier in any scale.  5 figures, 5 manufacturers.  Ganesha Games has a small range with Alternative Armies that includes this beast that completes the "scale down" effect I've aimed for: https://www.alternative-armies.com/collections/ganesha-games-miniatures/products/ds001-scimitar-monster

Designing my first god!  Sobek is a "second league" Egyptian god.

Sobek is a Nile Crocodile god, bit of healing powers and specific to an urban area as well as the Nile delta.  So towns, villages, cultivated land as well as riverbank, tall reeds and marches.

The Nile crocodile is more frequent and more deadly than its Australian counterpart.

The Game. I'll expand on start-up next time. We formed lines this time. I took Sobek.

"Shoo!"

Taking on a god is a hazardous undertaking.

Meastwhile, whack a doggie!

A reaction allows the spear to pointedly intervene.

The combat boils!

Ouch.

Slowest chase ever!

3 fails, a reaction and turnover.

Crunch!

The tangled bundle splits, mortals repulsed leaving He Ra vs a Son.

Son vs Doggies.

Hah, puppies pounce!

Repulsed with 1 loss.

Go!  Beaten back with 1 loss.  Result.

Same unit, same result!

Now that heats up.  He Ra gets crocked.

Now there's a clash!

The Son gets dogged.

Alas, with the last legend gone, the crocs (animals, my invoking unit) go.

Now there's another mighty mess.

So Set rolls a 6, is combat 4, +3 from invoking and +2 for greatly outnumbering.  Sobek rolls a 2 and is combat 3.  15:5 is a bit overkill--.  The 6 alone would have done it--.

Sobek's troops form a hopeful line.

Fast troops pile in - they cannot invoke whilst embroiled.

Dogs are repulsed! Sobek is returned via the unengaged unit.

With a Snap!  a legend and hound bites the dust.

The lesser sons take another dog.

Mummies shamble into contact.

Set Confounds the sons. and shoots Sobek.

And he's gone again!

The sons fail 1 morale, that destroys them!

That leaves me with nothing left.  Nowt.  Not the proverbial.

Game 2 - you know - swapsies!  We're close.  Damn close.

Send in Mr Big.  Archers score!

One legend down.  Archers move up & take out a croc!

No hanging around, gods are more vulnerable to shooting than combat.  That hippo is a rubber from the British Museum.

Sobek's forces go back, but the Sons are raring to go.

Tony has only 2 units capable of invoking.  I'd already reduced the crocs, so hit the others!

Well, it nearly worked!

Ouch!  My turn - I do horribly with morale--.

Where did everyone go?

And he's back!

Dog does zoomies.

Doggie dashed down.

Everyone congregates.

Return the compliment.

Ooooh, close!

That croc has got to feel awful lonely--

Mummies kill croc!  Didn't expect that--.

Dog attacks croc,  how not to roll dice!

Dog gets chopped and heeee's back--.

The croc-in-the-middle seizes the opportunity to attack He Ra.  He gets double bumped.

The good news is that the croc is within shooting range, but the bad news is that's charge range & its got dashing (so doesn't need extra action to fight)

I take the risk in using the archers to pray.  2 red's are their dice.  I roll soooo bad!  I have 3 actions then turnover.  Deep breath shoot!

The 2 crocs go back, but the lesser crocs go off-table.  That's it, Sobek cannot return!  Boy that was close--.  I hope you enjoyed that as much as we did!

I'm happy with the rest, but dashing for Sobek does not compensate for C3, leaving him vulnerable to shooting.  If I'd used my archers and got a 6 +2 combat = 8, you need a 3 to kill so a 1/2 +3 sees him gone.

This week we are mostly eating tea cakes.
