OAAH 2nd Battle of Quackajima a game redeadeded.


I got lazy.  after a busy week I thought "If I get this assembled and these painted-"  But it didn't happen.  'er in doors and her Maeanid cronies finished their dread debaucheries early losing me a whole day of doing Stuff.

So-  I turned the table, assembled the forces.  You know what, I didn't even point them up!  

6 units on a 6x6 table gives a good 3-31/2 hour game.  Proper job.

As Tony had led the assault last time, I turned both table and tables on him.  You take it, you hold it.  I factored out destroyed units from the last game and we have second-wave reinforcements on both sides.  I'll be honest, I have a couple more chariots needing assembly and using the existing force is as good motivation as any.  The Chimera was in the same box.  My paint job is growing on me, definitely an example of "less is more".

The game.  First off, this was a very fast game, rapid turnovers and Tony had some camera problems, so not as many pics as normal.

This is move 2, Tony takes full advantage of the BUA-with-road.  I get repeated fails.



My skirmishers get mashed by the chimera. I split these into 2 units.  Maybe-.



Now its holding up my whole line.  Ancient equivalent to a helicopter gunship.


Slam!  Chariots run over my first Naga.  You'll note that they all have slightly different stats.



I made this from bits.  Needs a bit more work.



The plan was to weaken his archers with the artillery naga then pounce.  Damn thing, EVERY dice roll it failed!  Even sticking the general with it didn't work!  It managed 2 moves & 2 shots.  One of those did nothing, the other killed one archer.


Counterthreat! My rabble get wiped but put up a good fight.



You'll note that I'm still-not-moving!


At last I get my oni to move, hitting the chariots before Tony can move 'em to safety.




With monsters, you have to pick your targets carefully.  This is my hardest naga, it takes a life.



My scouts get swamped, but they give a good account.  Taking a couple in skirmish runs helped.



Tony loses their disorder on a reaction from the archery, who shoot then go in.  He suffers no casualties!



I'm going to get that damned chariot!



Chimera goes back-


Now, where to send my oni?  My left is stalemate, the archers, naga & general in 1 area make it very strong.  I cannot advance any without endangering the other.  Tony advances another unit and the chimera through the BUA, I counter with my heavies.




That leaves the javelin unit.  My oni smash them, but that leaves them vulnerable to a flank attack.





I shove them back, but at a cost-


Turnover, for once the dice go my way and my oni pounce & kill Tony's general.



Skellies aren't to bothered about morale & there's some backward movement.


Now it's split into 2.


My heavies attack the archers - look!  The naga has both moved up & taken one out!


The archers put up a good fight and the spear turn on the victors.



I'm really pleased with these BUA bases.  My heavies push back the attackers.


But now the others from the flank move in and my last 2 oni attack the archers on reaction.





That leaves the chimera.




Pounded again- the survivors go back.



- to be charged by the last of the archers.


Meanstwhile, upon the other flank- harried by my skirmishers Tony's spear take on my archers.





Clash between my general and the chimera, it comes off worse.



Now it attacks!  Takes out my leader, the naga and 1 archer!



That was definitely game over.  Excellent slug-fest.
