It's a dogs life.
A change of pace, well sort of, doing a BIG OGAM game for our return to our local games shop. That takes a bit of planning, so here's a pallet clearer before the trough.
Game 1 A solitary male lion lurks in the long grass. A family of pigs enjoy a grand day out. An intrepid party of hunters boldly go forth.
The air is still, insects chirp. Birds call. First move to outflank the pigs attracts attention from a stroppy porker.
That presents an opportunity - missed, but also distracts from further outflanking.
One failed so a second runs in, boar bolts.
Run! Ah - boar gets bolshy.
Watch out! He's got his eye on you!
Pigs may safely graze - for now.
A lone pig, who's lost interest in the chap on the hill, is the perfect mark.
A young one should be easy--
A target hard to resist. They must hit something soon! Or some poor piggy will trip on a carelessly thrown spear.
Stroppy fellow wounds the successful hunter.
Did it smell the lion? Attacking the hunter instead?
One goes for cover - the lion - backs off. Perhaps he's had experience with hunters and/or boars.
Being picked on! Pocket full of acorns?
At last pork is being punctured, with only one casualty.Cowardly lion-
Happy hunters head for home with pork-a-plenty! The lion?
Game 2 Fork 'andle gives wind direction. We thought we'd try something a little different. A herd of ruminants (so this must be Ruminentaria) are being hunted by a pack of wolves and humans.
Note - 2 wolves on a base represent juviniles, no difference.
Humans start, stealthily moving through the shrubbery.
Some small movement.
Now the wolves. Different tactics, tactical positions, running through the herd.
Wolf gets close, gets killed.
One wolf down, one beast dead & another wounded!
The herd starts to stampede.
Wolves try and get to the dead one, get intercepted.
Bulk of herd runs off, followed by 2 wolves.
Now it's getting - personal.
Hunters mob the wolves.A second hunter goes down.
The last wolf scarpers, leaving the bloody field.
