Of Gods And Mortals Poseidon vs Thoth

This is a "pre cursor*" sort of job.

I've plans for a large campaign hopefully featuring multiple players and with some games with 2 gods per side - or 2 vs 1 would be interesting.  The Sea Peoples invasions of Egypt is the perfect mix of Greek and Egyptian.

* These were more prevalent before the widespread introduction of home computers.

I looked up Egyptian sea deities:
Nun, also spelled Nu, oldest of the ancient Egyptian gods and father of Re, the sun god. Nun’s name means “primeval waters,” and he represented the waters of chaos out of which Re-Atum began creation. Nun’s qualities were boundlessness, darkness, and the turbulence of stormy waters; these qualities were personified separately by pairs of deities. Nun, his female counterpart, Naunet, and three further pairs together formed the Ogdoad (group of eight gods) of Hermopolis. Various Egyptian creation myths retain the image of the emergence of a primeval hillock formed of mud churned from the chaotic waters of Nun. Since it was believed that the primeval ocean continued to surround the ordered cosmos, the creation myth was reenacted each day as the sun god rose from the waters of chaos. Nun was also thought to continue to exist as the source of the annual flooding of the Nile River.

Illusions, after deployment either:

Switch positions any 2 mortals or legends.

Remove 1 terrain. Add 1 terrain. I took it as read that I'd add a water feature and he'd remove it.

Danger sense, no ambush against.

The Game.  Part uno of any OGAM game is the initial deployment.   I started by putting my Chimera (think Apache chopper) on my right up high.  Tony denied his centre to build up his right.

A Converted advances and I pounce, dangerous that close to the god but I wanted to use Labrynth on his masses.

Get in close and shoot, no effect. Damn.

Contact but no fight.

My left is looking very weak-

With Thoth engaged, Poseidon crashes into the flank.  Push back only, drat!

My archers take down another Converted.

That gets Thoth's Ire up and he descends upon them.  With Posideon so close he doesn't follow up so not outnumbered.

Cautious advance into range.

Another clash, another push back.

On the other flank my heroic charioteers crash with the advancing infantry, but the beast is there so hit & run.

My heavies eye the axeweilders.  They hit & bounce off.

Thoth strides across the field and descends on the Minotaur.

Now the beast strikes.

My heavies have fared poorly.

Just pop that bug.

The large mass of infantry to the bottom right is powering Thoth and I've little to chip at them.

2 legends vs a powerful legend and god.  I could get lucky, but didn't.

Thoth moves on, allowing Poseidon to (dangerously) attack the beast.

My heavies hit the clump to reduce numbers available to invoke.

Thoth has run into my rear, undoubtedly looking for small units to clobber.  Not 'aving that.

Take that!

This causes a regroup backwards into a good line.

Thoth returns, and leaps upon my Heavies - only to be struck down (6:1) by mere mortals!  They gain the honorific Thothstomperi.

I had been feeling a bit outnumbered, but several units leave the field after this 2nd morale round.

3 activations for my dashing heroes!

Crunch!

Poseidon goes hunting.

Thoth gets pushed back by archery "'ave it!"

Another clash-.

He's back and makes it into contact - hammer and anvil but didn't work!

The black die are the prayer ones, note unit behind also marked.  So this gives Thoth the chance at reactions, not turnover.  He gets one but no effect.

But even with his strike reduced to +2, Posiedon wins.

My javelins are in danger!

Rats.  The 2  green mean this is a turnover - as Thoth's missing at least he doesn't get the chance at the other reaction.

He uses the 1 to move into contact with the axe.  Bad move, as their invocation brings Thoth popping back (do they stop for a quick pint and a sarnie?) And crash!

But the javelins - and again-

Thoth's last unit able to invoke leaves the field, so Posideon wins by the skin on his bluetooth!

My survivors.

Quick aside.  I mixed Museum Miniatures Z sculpts with these older Old Glory models and very pleased with the multipose look.
