Paleo Diet - first games.

This is the Cornish Yellow.  Not to be confused with the Essex Pink.

I didn't have time to do what I wanted - one day spent on the computer, another being sociable.  Yes, I know - but once a year is at my tolerance level.  Just.

I based these up the day before, started painting at 23.30 and in the morning, plus rereading the rules.

CP Models (ex Splintered Light)  and Rebel.  Not finished!

Game 1.  From the book.  4 hunters take on an old mammoth.  This is a co-operative game and you're working together to beat the beast.

Working around the beast spooks it into moving in the wrong direction.  The beasts work on failed activations and the situation they face.

Sneaking---

Got him bracketed now-.

Waving & shouting gets the brute into the wet.

Fling!

He goes back, now for another go- wounded!

The beast trumpets, turns & retires.

Runs in, rolls good - beast goes down!

Game 2.  Heard of beasties with a Mammoth in attendance.

Random placing.

Quiet moving prompts some movement.

Spreading out.

Lying low.  Wrong move here would send them in the wrong direction.  Patience--.

They begin to bunch up.  Careful-.

Hiding by the crunch creams.

Now--.

Got it!  Mammoth away from the heard.

Bait ball.

First one down.  A death triggers movement.

Some are stampeding into the swamp.  That's fine, let them go for next time.

2 more wounded.

One gets stroppy!

Second, then third down.  Now 4.

That's more than enough for 6 to carry!

Game 3.  Can the game be played multi-player/competitively?  We had the usual 6 hunters plus a small group of wolves.  Both after a murder of boar.

BTW, we set up scenery, then diced for wind direction(indicated by chop stick)  That defined starting edges.

My first hunter makes a mistake and gets chased by 2 persistent porkers!

We work on 2 fails- the aminals react to those, then the initiative passes.

Hunter attacked and wounded.

Wolves move in.

I try for a line.  The wolves do better.

A pig goes for my wounded hunter, kills him and there's a feeding frenzy!

One for the wolves.  That triggers the rest in MY direction, and the dead hunter proves irresistible-.

No.2 for the wolves.

Squeals send mine back.

Now the boars target my other hunters.

I got one!

Can I get another?

Wolves have one each, that'll do them!

The hesitant porker, he hung around trying to decide where to go.

I've lost another hunter!

Pig attacks wolf.  Not a good idea.

I lose another one, but the pig is brought low.

The fight goes on.

I'm not doing so well---.

The wolves are just stuffed--.

Wow.  Our Nicholas Wright cannot 'arf right rules!  Firstly Faustus Furious, now this one!

Love this game!  Simple but very effective mechanisms that  don't get in the way.  Complicated and tactical enough for adults.  Good learning tool & teaching aid for kids.  You'll see these games again.
