Of Gods And Mortals 4 way game.

A unique, world first(?) game was held.

Huge, huge THANK YOU to Matt Hay's (Hades) Wednesday Night group, Alana (first time player!  So brave! Izanami), and Harley*, THE Loki, who's enthusiasm was unbounded.

It's one thing to have a concept, vision, call it what you want.  But to find a group  willing and able to make it happen is a real treasure.

So it came to pass that a Fastus Furious game was held.  The result being:

The Running Order:
Ymir for Loki
Loki
Osiris
Izanami
Gaki for Izanami
Cerberus for Hades
Pharoah Nuff for Osiris
Hades.

Terrain and Deployment Order is the reverse. I kept the terrain selection to 2 each, one pass of the list : Hades. Osiris. Hades. Izanami. Izanami. Osiris. Loki. Loki.

The game. Apologies, I was concentrating on running the game than taking coherent pictures, but you can get a good idea of the fun. And it WAS fun. We all enjoyed it and the pace was slower than normal but no one was left out.

The first game - deployment. Matt (Hades) put a unit in the centre of my (Osirus) deployment and in my temple. Yep, I placed several too close.

He took the hill he had placed while Loki forms a solid column.  Izanami more a solid crescent.

Starting!  Loki added a small area of rough to pen in Izanami.  Then his better trolls (I think these should be C3 or dashing) crashed into my levy spear, who did a sterling job all game of holding him back.

Then he attacked Izanami, undead vs Ronin who came off worse.

Now Hades attack on Osirus heats up.  The scorpion vs Cerberus fight was a real ding dong until they killed each other!

Hades hordes attacks Osirus, get shoved back.  My hero dashes into one, but gets crushed.  The other hits a behemoth, but likewise dies.

My levy's killed one!   Scorpion comes scuttling in and turns a dead result into a knocked down to be dispatched later.  My legends aren't doing well!

Pressure on Izanami.  Loki's moving in, Hades chariot takes out the Dai Oni.

Ymir gets close enough to try Frost, but it fails.

Hades starts collecting dead--.

Osirus moves onto the flak, throws trolls back.

Now Izanami moves in, slaughtering the centaurs.  All the ladies love a crunchy hard centaur.

Loki teleports in on reaction.

The remaining Oni and Gaki pick on the troll wolves.

Hades forms the grateful dead, look who's coming--

This flank starts to heat up again.

Osirus kills Ymir!

A scratch unit of undead - reundead? Holds up Izanami.

Loki does the dirty on Hades but didn't quite make it.

The remaining trolls head for Hades hoard - away from Osirus.

Peasants fight undead and do better than expected.

Osirus moves into contact, but Loki teleports in going stabby stabby and the first god is dead!

Hades hill is assaulted.

Osirus is back!  The levy are pushed back.

And there we left it!  Time constraints as usual.

The game.  The pace was fine, considering that Alana was a new player and Matt & Harley haven't played since the before time.

We made mistakes.  So what?  We were all friends together looking to have a fun experience.  This aim was achieved.  Perhaps I should have shrunk the sises to 1,000?

The game-generated list worked well as it made sure play was distributed, even if not evenly.  Such is the nature of the gods.

I kept terrain selection to 2 each, so one round of the list.  I gave each a temple, if defended as per the scenario, but these were not used except Matt plonked a unit in mine on deployment.  The central Dun  Manifestin worked to break the play up.

This was a first step to my proposed Beachhead game in Bournemouth next February (2023)  First off I've started making the lists.  That means I've an idea of the mound of painting to do- chariots----.

Planning isn't too hard.  Just matching who fought who.  I have the plan of the table in my mind.  River on one side, Scaen gate with dignitaries on top.  Base line of Achilles camp covers all the scenery.

For this game is to use a goblet with 2 gems each for each side.  I had thought of using small ducks but- I would need a bucket..  The initiative is pulled and the gem retained (I need a stand per each side - more work!)

Reactions are pulled, so there is less chance of the active player getting it.

Change of initiative the same.  If the active player gets it again, both are retained, so there's no chance of a reaction or a third go.

Watch this space!
