OGAM Ares vs Pan Lorra, lorra games!


I decided to do some Of Gods And Mortals.  I've got the new stuff & it was time to give them their first time upon the stage in preparedness for my Winter Olympics.

I hadn't seen this expanding so rapidly into 3 different games!  You will note that you've seen these figures recently in our Of Armies And Hordes games.

First Use.  Simple Temple Under Siege, equal sides Pan holds temple.

Not quite by the book.  Could call it King of the Castle.  Central position (giving same benefits as the temple)  Defender has same garrison and places scenery and has first deployment.  Attacker has first move.  Equal points.

The Game.  Doesn't look much on a big table, does it?  Tony had Pan & defended.  We did use most of the table and this was a long game, lacking the sudden-death element of the temple scenario.


My right flank saw the first movement.


I put these stags in for fun (a recent purchase cannot remember if Splintered light or Rebel.  I have a couple from Irregular somewhere)  These were a filler, but real fun to play.

Squabble and strife.




A flanking move checked.  Rider is from RPE and I got in sale on a whim.  When I got them, they looked silly on a horse.  A stag works well though.


A solid line-.  Chiron observes.


Conflict sucks in the mobile.


I'd hoped for better, but a push back will do.



Multiple legendary smack-downs!


Chariot is beginning to look a little worse for wear.



And they snuck in!


A tie.  Mutual glorious death.


The stags retreat - for now.



Aaah- all because the Lady loves hard centaurs!


"Get orf moi land!"



Backup!  We need backup!


I'm abandoning that flank all tactical like.


Another thump, I do better.



Pan emerges from the woods.  Khurasan Jersey Devil stand in for (same) normal figure.  He Awes the poor girls.  S'not fair!


Panic now-.


Encouraged by their god, the centaurs slam into the poor girls.  Some photo's removed as not suitable for a general audience.


Can they hold out to relief arrives?


Come on then! i deliberatly chose these Irregular goatmen.  I bought 10 - same code, all different!


Ares moves at last. Centaurs disengage.




Clash and Pan wins!




Stags charge and bounce.



Chiron tries his luck as the ladies lost one to centaur archery.


Javelins bring back Ares by dark promises of forbidden delights--.  Which puts Chiron betwix a rocky hill and a hard place.


Centaurs are fast and hard, remount their charge.




Hardly a fair fight!



Chariot hero pays for picking on a poor defenceless animal.  Don't make Pan angry--.



Having no luck with the centaurs, Ares hits the temple guards, who put up a good fight.




Chiron gets bundled!



Now the other flank is open.


A rumble of legends.




Reinforcements.



While Ares is occupied, Pan stalks.





Brave heart!  "You can squish our floppy bits - but - oh".


Yep there's still a stag going.


Splat!  Pow!  Biff!




I'm sure we had more--?  This is called a confused mellee, but it's easy to work out with a bit of care.




These squidgy bits?



Push backs fractures the mess.



Once again unto the centaurs, dear Ares.


The archers aren't so good as the fighters.


House clearing.


Remember the stag vs javelins fight?  And they say animals forget.




Rescue!




Ares, pushed back, uses his whiles and cuts across the temple.



Revenge.


Form a line!



Refight!


Engaging units to reduce below 4.



Pans turn to pop out.


Mine goes back, there's a line.



Pops back!  That was quick!


Get that 4!


Another crash and he's down again!



Before morale.


After.



Ares attacks my one unit capable of incanting.



Slap!


Centaurs make good use of their free disengage.


But with units able to prey to hime, Ares catches up.  Reduces them below 4.  No possibility of Pan.  Ares wins!

Ok, no pics for these as done at Matts Wednesday club.  3 games in one day!

I will relate one-.  Ares attacking.  All going well then I get to start.  On comes Pan, right up Ares hairy ass.  He's got +1, which makes them even.  Crunch, wop, one dead Pan.  Great, morale check. I lose a couple and the rest go back one.  Now here's the rub.  They aren't even on the table and they are going to use 1 just getting to the table edge!   I lost.

The Game 1)  Ares defends.  He loses (20%) the 8 maiden spear & cavalry, reducing total to 1,003.


Dah Dah Dah.  Tony decides to defend with the archers.  Interesting choice--.  Plus one out of 6 scenery.


Oh deer!  They try, repulsed.



That went quick!  I'm on!  Usual method, sides no. 1-4 with 2 others 5-6.  Here come the girls!




Sneaking-


More sneaking.


Gotcha, but they've got free disengage.



Well hellloo.

The chase begins.

The stags try again, get shoved again.


Piling it on, something will happen-.


Forgot smoke- chariot turns death into downed.  Forgot smoke.


They're behind you--.


There they go.


Quick shove & its up, kickstart and they're away.


Revenge gets there in the end.




Stag gets shafted by young lady.  You try finding that on the web thing!



And the chase is on again.


Beginning to look a little thin-.

Girl Power.  I've treated these chariots as battle taxis.



We've met before?


Nooo!  Pointy stick technology!



Squeezed to death by young ladies, again with the pointy sticks!  They'll have someones eye out!

There's nothing like a secure flank.



Bimbleing along.  No rush.

Flank threat removed.  Time for some fast maneuvering.  Eyes on the prize.

Pan is not 'aving any of that!

Ah, Ares! I'd forgotten about him.  Now in new, improved Boar mode!


Pan's are looking a bit thin-.

A tie!  White dice = Awed.


One gone Pan!


Morale - take that as a gone unit.


I have 1 unit capable of summoning, but greatly outnumbered.  Time to go--.


Ares in Smug mode.


Game 2 usual swapsies.  Tony rolls a 1 for terrain.  6 Amazon spear hold the temple.


 Pan Awes the defenders, who get cheesed.  They cannot retreat so suffer 3 casualties.  Ouch!



Quick turnovers and here they come!




Hah.


11 to 5 - that's - bits everywhere-.


Rushing, can they get there before help arrives?




Sorted.  Pose, speech, poem.



Here's the relief.  Young girls can be good at relief.


Uneven shooting, but not a healthy place to be.


Trundle, trundle, trundle.  Pose struck.

It's a quirk of the game that you get into contact but not fight-.

He's gone.  Morale collapses so it's all over.
