Original DBA Campaign system.

A quick aside into the world of campaigns.

Read this first:  http://www.wrg.me.uk/SUE/DBACampaigns.pdf

I've used this system successfully several times with a wide range of rules.  It's particularly good at Rogue Stars.  I used for our Moon campaign, where each branch was a corridor,  and recently Oz:  http://unitrecon.blogspot.com/2020/05/rs-campaign-lands-of-oz.html.

I'm toying with an Ogron civil war campaign using a mixture of Xenos Rampant and Rogue Stars.  Each 3/4 configuration would be a planet or disputed area if I reduced it to one planet or system.  http://unitrecon.blogspot.com/2022/05/rogue-stars-flying-lead-phoney-or-proxy.html

Lion Rampant  (Wampant!  Sorry-.)  I'm planning this one but it could easily use this format:  http://unitrecon.blogspot.com/2023/07/planning-lion-rampant-campaign.html

Way, way back in the day.  Pre web.  Pre mobiles, faxes and other fine stuff.

I was the referee, Da Da Pope*.  All correspondence, mostly hand written.  You remember paper and pens? came through me to be lost, delayed, handed or shown to the wrong person.  Games were played by myself, David Thomas and Paul Jackson.

The sides:

Lancaster  & Yorkist Put aside their differences to embark on world domination.  Somewhat hampered by the sea crossing.

Swiss.  Played the "neutral" card, sending allied detachments.  eventually won!

Germany and France.  Pulverised each other and lost to Switzerland and a United Kingdom respectfully.

Burgundy lost the information war and got pounded early on.  Talked into sending an allied contingent to the Brits, who then wiped it out.

Then France invaded and crushed it, which left it open to a Brit invasion.

That left Germany, with Swiss ally, to pick off the 2 Brits.  Only in turn to be demolished by its ally.

*I tried to convince some (then a new thing) Living History re-enactors that I had converted to their methodology and that I was going to be (one of) the Pope, intervene and stop all conflict.  Somehow they didn't believe me!

  1. I have cobbled up something that lets me do this typ of terrain with 3 "main factions" that can even attack each other. They collect WPs individually to see who wins. (It's on my blog)
Always interesting to see other use the same basic campaign and build upon it.
