Of Gods And Mortals Hera Rebooted

 

OGAM is a subtle game,  often requiring cookies. It often plays like one of those chess problems.  Here I've made a minor change in Hera's stats and at Tony's behest* set her against mighty Ares.  The lists are the same for Ares, except Tony is trying him in boar form.

*which is the older wrought iron one not the more modern fitted with aluminium brackets.

A daughter of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, sister-wife of Zeus, and queen of the Olympian gods. Hera was worshipped throughout the Greek world and played an important part in Greek literature, appearing most frequently as the jealous and rancorous wife of Zeus and pursuing with vindictive hatred the heroines who were beloved by him.   

I see Hera as the ultimate Karen. Except, of course, she IS the manager's wife. This version is intended to represent her upon the field of Troy.  If in more "normal" use I'd add Animal mastery and field some interesting large, or even huge, animals.  She is fond of sending these against the bastard offspring  of her errant husband.  She is worshipped in many cities, so fielding the army of say, Argos would be befitting.

The Game.  As before the Myrmidons are set back.

Hera is again in shadowform.

Ponder this arrangement. (legend) Aphrodite and Ares backed by archers and javelin.  Tony starts with her, but she fumbles it.  Bless.

 

Hera gives one to Ares who boars forward.  Ajax manages to do neatly as well but he charges Ares, but that does not go well.

Hera moves forward and hits the Trojan flank with Tremble before my might, marked with white dice.  

Menelaus charges  Pandarus, having somewhat of a dislike for Trojan archers, but despite +3 it's a draw. Only the (forgotten at first) fact that he's mounted +1 saves them both from going down in red ruin to the dusty fields of Hades. For some reason he doesn't follow up.

Xanthus surges forward on reaction.

Myrmidons crash into the awed javelins.

Legends size each other up.

Ares savages Hera!  The result is not good, being on the edge the Myrmidons go!

Xanthus takes down Ajax the Lesser.

Now, even with 2 awed units, the Trojans are in a better position.

Spearmen charge Menelaus who looks rather surrounded!

"Hello boys!"  -  "Ouch, that pricks!"

Spear try and resolve the stalemate.

   Pandarus shoots Menelaus!  That's in the book!  Innit just!

It took a lot!

Again-

Now the danger, only 2 "4's" remain-.

Looming-

One "4" invokes, 1 prays, able to do so as their close enemy is still awed.  Xanthus is shoved back.

Ares ignores Hera and charges the spear - who resist at first.

The river rushes, and is waived.

Ares "throws" the spear off table!  That's a first-.

The last unit threatened!

Oh crap!

 Pandarus shoots 1 as forces gather.

That's that, no return!

Alas-  still, that was a hard fought game!
