Rogue Stars Mix n Match. When mootant cow meets Frankenduck! Baron Greenback vs the Treacle Miners of Oz.

  Precursor.  Cursor.  Postcursor.

Them 'oo do say, have vouchsafed that several of you like my take on designing teams.  Thank you!  I have a liking for the more- unusual models.  Doing so in 15mm makes it affordable.  I can often field a team for what you would pay for 1 larger plastic or resin model.  Go figure.

One of the reasons I run campaigns is to use same.  Dotted throughout here are shortish 6-ish teams with a central theme.

What this gives me is a pool of tested teams that can be called on when need arises.  I did this recently with Matt Hay's Wednesday meeting when we got in 5 games.  Next time I'm providing another 6 that will include the Movellans and Robomen.

Today, or rather yonderday, my printer decided to say "NO!" so I had to come up with something a bit quick.

The List:

Peoples Liberation of Oz (PLO)

Affiliated Rationalised Shamen of the Holy Order Lagoo Elder Sunnes.

Witches (Mill)

Baron Greenback (Oz)

Baron Greenback with Frog Mecha. (Revised)

Used:

Game 1 Oz Popular Liberationists (OPL)  vs The Mootants (Moon Mayhem)

Game 2 Baron Greenback with Frog Mecha. (Revised)  vs   Treacle Miners of Oz.

Game 1  Mission 13 Rescue.  Location 11 Irradiated. Complication 10 Precursor.

Gert has been captured by the freedom fighters, who seek refuge in the huge ruins of a crashed ship.  Before they are able to exploit her and the artefact the rest of the Herd arrive to free her.

Fantas uses his mind control skills to gain control of the captive as the Mootants approach.

Violet gains the artifact and gains psi power Nightmares.  Perhaps due to incompatability, being treated as malware?  Whatever the reason, she steadfastly refused all further activations.  Christas teleports in close to stop further contact.

As the Mootants move in, the Liberators assemble.

On the other flank zap guns take on electrokenisis.  Goddas, under pressure retires.

Oh calamity!  Enslaved, the poor beast kills her sister Udderly.

Yellow advances!  Rather than kill her enslaved comrade she strikes at the heart of the enemy.  Hassas, the close combat specialist, advances with his force sword and a knock down battle ensues.  She absorbs all the teams remove wound tokens until she is thrown broken and bleeding back through the hatch by Killas telekinetic push.

Zally aproaches from the side, 2 shots at Killas misses, but he uses a reaction to flee.

Hassas, now free, leaps down blade whirling and strikes Zally down.

Violet, now the last remaining effective, checks her sister before heading on an end run.

Despite a suprise attack at close range at a sitting duck target -- a miss.  Christas teleports in, vibroblade plunging into the beast, nocking her down staggered.

I'd played a similar game with Matt.  Dense terrain and the Mootants taking my leader out with a long shot whilst in dense cover in the first activation--.

Game 2.  We'd spent a bit too long on the first, so had to "jolly along this one.

Mission 8 Boarding Action.  Location Space Port.  It's personal.  Possibly as the result of some meeting in a dimly lit Space Rangers (the type where the select clientele wear interesting clothing) bar Hello Drongo and Nero have a grudge--.

By the simple resource of calling out its (her?), opponent, Nero gives up the initiative.

OK, I moved up the wrong figure but all the action happened out of my sight plus the weaponry is identical.

Well this soon devolved into a typical bar room brawl.  Nero gets its opponent down, Bruce wins over the mecha.  The halberdier rushes in to open the gap.  The Baron has no move, no activation the entire game.

The 2 on the left attempt to advance in order to outflank the fight.

Franko engages the halberdier from behind, his powered gaintlet causing terrible wounds, staggering the poor goblin.

Bruce tries to engage Nero, who disengages.  The mecha gets up, grabs Bruce and slams him into Hello, damaging and pinning both.

Dongo sees his chance and moves in to separate Hello and Nero.

Like a slippery demon, Nero strikes at the still downed and multipinned Hello and fatally severs his leg.  Honour satisfied, both sides warily withdraw.
