RS SAS vs Dominar Rigel over a worm.

Back in May I recounted the adventures of the new Special Arial Service run in with the Martian worm cult.

Now they are faced with a different problem. The fiendish Dominar Rigel is on Mars. His attempt to smuggle a Venusian Godzillasaurus had been thwarted.

(See Godzillasaurus Unchained series way back in 23.3.2015)

He turns his attention to the home-grown worm. Having learnt (via the – cooperation of a worm cult priest) that the worms can be controlled. He takes several smaller specimens off their hands before this attempt to capture a larger specimen-.

Worm - I'd said it was Splintered Light - Oooops!  It's - http://www.rebelminis.com/sandwurm.html
I'm glad the page says "some filling required" 'cos I thought it was my poor modelling skills.  Superglue & bicarbonate works.

I used gesso as normal, then light grey hobby paint.  I'd used Daler Rowney red earth ink before.  This one is like a paint, I had to water it right down to get this effect. I dry brushed hobby paint antique white over the top.  Needs a bit more to pick out the claws & teeth.

As usual based in generic no-more-nails that has had one wash of hobby paint burnt umber.

The SAS gains 12 xp for the above mission making a total of 213.  See previous game for full list.

The game.  This is a version of the complication 19 Space demon. The SAS's job is to prevent the Dominar from capturing and controlling the worm by any means possible.

Tony took the Dominar (shock-) but I won the initiative 2 - 5.   I advanced with some caution, keeping off the sand.  I needn't have bothered-.  Tony took the initiative and all the players assembled.

Here comes the worm as per book.

It's BEHIND you!

Ouch-.

Captain Gordon uses his flight pack to move in, priming a grenade then throwing!

The grenade falls a little short, but was powerful enough to lay the beast low!

Somewhat, probably a Martian, Tad annoyed the Dominar risks a shot at the officer.

Captain Gordon is alive and seeks cover, returns fire.

Corperal Lagagee  takes a long shot, a head hit knock a worm down.

Manners looks for the Dominar, but he (as with any competent villain, the ultimate survivor) seeks cover.

His bodyguards are catching up, lining up shots.  A cat and mouse game ensues.

The worm gets up, somewhat annoyed.

The second bodyguard gets ready, stepping out bravely.

As does the worm.

Young lady with pointy stick is not to be underestimated.  The spear licks out and Manners is dead!  This could have been quite different if she'd given a reaction away-.

The worm closes on Lagagee, but you don't give him a reaction.

Now the girl makes another long run belting down the Captain.

Well that was that!  1 dead from the worm, 2 from the bodyguard.  On the other side 1 wounded worm and one dead big worm.

Game 2. Swapsies.  I got the worms up front as far as possible, the rest followed on cautiously.

A sneaky long shot.

Where are they?

Damn worm pops up in the same place!  The tall tree marks the centre & we used opposed rolls from this point to locate.

Poor worm gets a close look at the business end.  I cannot help but wonder, is this the work of the same sculptor?

It gets away a bit sharpish.  The Dominar moves in and easily takes control.  To quote the Dominar, Proper job!

The beast placidly moves off.  "We are going to need a bigger lorry".

The Captain tries to intervene.

Now the worms turn aggressive, protecting the Dominars departure.  Getting close to Lagagee so he cannot shoot.

The others are threatened.

Meanstwile, the rest make their escape.

Ganging up- note the one behind.

Ouch!

Lagagee disengages but gets hit.  But that allows the Captain to kill the brute.

Now the final one pays the price.

That worked well! Now there will be a larger OAAH game based on this result.
