RS Mars from the unpopular end

Look at the weapons stats.  There's all the primitive weapons such as bows, swords, spears.  Useful for lost colonies, backwaters and weapon restricted environs.

I'm going a bit further.  (Now there's a change you say.   Sarky bastard says I)  Let's now look at armour.  I'm proposing using Kevlar as basic chest armour such as a coat of plates.  Light combat dress as chainmail or partial plate, combat dress as full(ish) plate.

I pulled out my lovely Splitered Light's  Dark Elves I painted as a Martian faction.  I'd pulled some out as dismounts from vehicles or cavalry for such use.  I had 11, so I added another crossbow.

This turned out very well, a couple of different, interesting games.

Game 1  Clash of militias
One with 3 crossbow, an armoured vet and the boss with his girlfriend.
The other is a mix of swordsmen and sword & pistol crossbow armed.

Mission 5 Manhunt p32, location Farm, complication Demon, huge, claws, tough3, weapon master 3
I admit it.  I got these babies the day before and worked into the night to get 'em ready.

Game 1.  I took the sword n pistol boys and Tony won the toss.  We diced for location of big nasty and it was up in Tony's deployment area.

I set up in and around the outhouse as per scenario.

With a wary eye, Tony sneaked.  The boss out in front.

Spotted!  Charge!

He's down and out!

Look, it's a white ape but the antelope brown (as opposed to direwolfshit green) ink noods to be very, very dry before drybrushing.  We diced for activations and random movement that sent it straight in-.

Stands back, makes a brew.

Move up whilst they're occupied.

Down he goes!

Dispatched.

"Get orf me!"

Another turnover, stomp!

No point staying and waiting for an enemy with longer reach weapons-.  I'm in range of the crossbows but they're safe from me.

One crossbow gets clobbered.

And another-.

The girlfriend goes in, she's tough.

Run!

Another twang!

A mess of writhing bodies and corpses.

Sniping from the wings.

The girl friend goes down leaving one crossbow vs 2.  Vicious, ding-dong hand to hand with shooting definitely secondary.

Hah!  Got you!  Sneaky ploy!  Swapped in third side.  This one- think Big Trouble in Little China.  Three super sword wielding psi masters plus 3 longswordsman.  These are all skilled civilians.  Imagine that like the Boxers, they are superb in the dojo, but in the real word its different.  I fought against one such group, it took us minutes to realise that they were all repeating the same moves and they went down like wheat.  Never repeat, pose or kick.

A different Mr Big starts in a similar place.

Being civvy's, Tonys sword n pistol boys gets more reactions than I get actions!

Wavy coming in all showoff.

Tempting target!

EEk!  He gets a 20!  But I blink out of the way into cover!

Short lived reprieve, he runs in-.

Baldy and Pointy realise somethings wrong.

Yorik moves up.

Wavy is gone and the white ape joins in.

Trying to get away, E gets zapped by Baldies Electrokinesis.

"You poke it-"

Swordsmen move up slowly.

Yorik moves up via teleport, then does Mindscream.  This effects 2 only, despite them being bunched up.  The attempt to teleport out results in 3 fails.

Tickled by the tip.

Alas poor Yorik, he was a fellow of infinite villainy.

Change of initiative and Mr Ape's had enough.

H goes on the attack.

He's layed low.

Swinging, dodgy.  Tony hands initiative back as he's racked up a lot of stress.

Is it gone?

3 vs 1 cannot be fair!

That's 2 - then 1-.

Oh-.

Baldy is last man standing & look who's back n hungry.

Different playing all civilians.  You have to think and they react accordingly.  Good fun!  If that mindblast had done more- if I'd got a second even third one in!
